Frothers Unite! UK: The Acclaimed Pro-Am Sculpting Competition Archives2007:
The Unseelie Suspects Theme for the 2007 contest was "the unseelie suspects" destined to go with Woteva's free game "The Wild Hunt". Don't think cutesy 'Fairy' with wings and that - its just a victorian romanticism. Think gnarly fay, beautiful and contemptously enigmatic or twisted and malevolent. This competition has now ended! The entries are up for viewing, so go there right now! The categories are: Fairies, winged denizens and naked ladies, Satyrs and woodland spirits, Goblins, brownies and other naughty tricksters, Horrors and nightmares. Results have been announced! 2006:
Asylum Another great success, with some new names in the hall of fame. Quality was incredibly high, but the two names that crept up the most in the results were Richard "Woody" Ansell and Michael Brand. The entries are up for viewing, so go there right now! The categories are: Inmates, Things that lurk in the dark, Asylum staff, Visitors & Interlopers. Results have been announced. What are you still here for? 2005:
Female Miniatures... After the massive success of the first, expectations were high for the second edition of the FU!UK contest. The subject was unconventional. After all, who DOES know what women want? The number of entries surpassed the previous year and 4 real-life women were brought in to judge the entries. There were many excellent entries, but the winner of the day was definitely Kev 'Hasslefriesian' White, who went home with two (virtual) Golden Trophies for his two (anonymous) entries.
2004: Alice in Wonderland The first edition of what was to become FU!UK's annual Pro-Am Sculpting Competition was themed around Alice in Wonderland. The large number of entries by pro and amateur sculptors alike made it an instant success. Who could forget Bob Olley's incredibly detailed Smoking Caterpillar diorama or Drew Williams' faithful rendering of the White Knight Falling of Horse? |
